Ethics and Profit: No Contradiction?

It was way harder to find an approach to Business Models for Data Sharing than we had ever imagined. Our first discussions seemed to be without a defined direction and somewhat fruitless. Nonetheless, this afternoon changed the game completely, and all of a sudden we are where we are now; with a radically new perspective.

In continuation to discover concepts and relationships of data and business, we sat down to elaborate concrete ideas, which then were rated and evaluated. After some hours of dense discussion, a new business model for sharing information was created.

With a revolutionary business mind-set, we conquered the challenges the market brings about. By combining the traditional business model of a bank with the new unprecedented opportunities which incorporate an ethical interaction with a user’s data, we managed to unite two worlds: profit and moral.

The first market to be redefined, healthcare, is of fundamental relevance to all of us.

For now, our job is to tweak our presentation a little for tomorrow. Finally, we have our business model and we cannot wait to show you. We’ve got something special for you…so don’t miss out ;)

A journey from frustration over newfound confidence to laughter

After a bad start to our day we took a moment to get our negative emotions out there.

But now, well before midnight, we are satisfied with today’s work and are feeling excited for our presentation tomorrow.

Good night from Group10.

My Data, Your Data, Big Data – Day 2

Today started out with the evolution of one of last year’s projects: BuyAware. This was great for getting an idea of how to present our project in an interesting way. Coming up with solutions for our question was quite a challenge because we all agree that our topic is not very tangible and so concrete ideas didn’t exactly come flying into our minds… HOWEVER, after a while, we managed to come up with a few ideas. Walking around looking at other idea’s was also good inspiration, despite the different topics. Now, choosing our favourite idea was not a quick process. We sat talking for a while, and then another while and then we went for lunch and visited the skills labs…. and THEN we gathered back together where we finally decided on something. From there we continued to develop our idea and overall, we’re very pleased with it.
We started with no idea what big data even was, and even then… what did our question mean? Now we sit here, with an answer to our question! Patience is key to success.

Use the Force

On Day 2 we were extremely productive. First we gathered many ideas about the topic of how Big Data can help people on the margin of society. After very long discussions and debates we agreed that our main topic will be the refugees. We started to go into details und elaborate the idea and finally came to arrive at a proper conclusion. We had a rough day with a lot of hard work and thinking, but now we catch up with the fun part of the day! :)

We’re looking forward to presenting our idea tomorrow and see what the others have come up with!

It’s a piece of cake! – Second day

Good afternoon students

Before enjoying sleeping in our cosy beds here at the Seepark Hotel in Thun we will give you a short summary of what happened today.

First of all in the morning we had to come up with our futuristic ideas about our topic. It was a challenging task, but we managed to handle it in a quite creative atmosphere and after many discussions followed until the early afternoon we got our final idea for the Swiss Talent Forum 2016.

Below a short explanation of our vision:

The Secret Garden is an international closed platform for teachers and students inside the school system, based on the three C’s: collection, combination and conclusion. It enables students to get in touch with Big Data and understand how it’s working by experiencing it on their own. The results can be bought by governments or corporations to finance the schools.

So now the time has come to create our presentation for tomorrows performance.

Sleep well and see you tomorrow! :)
