Discover and Dream Session, Day 2

We are using a specific process at the Swiss Talent Forum to create ideas. It’s called «The Idea Machine» and it’s a process I co-created at www.brainstore.com and have used for over 900 projects so far.

During the first phase of the process, which here at the Forum we call “Discover and Dream”, we let the participants create an abundance of raw material around their topic. The goal is to collect as much loose stuff as possible to facilitate the next session, where more specific ideas are created.

Here are a few images of the different sessions in the group – enjoy!

Go green!

Our group is looking for solutions that will help people to become greener and fairer consumers. After listening to inspiring speeches in the morning, we literally got our hands dirty during the Discover & Dream session, using our homemade salt dough to give shape to our ideas.

Among other tasks, we tried ourselves as green marketing experts and came up with creative, music-inspired advertisement ideas which now decorate our windows.

The amazing magnetic walls, too, are covered with notes and posters, giving a sense of how many ideas our group came up with during that afternoon.

We were blind but now we see

Today we focused on defining the problem because knowing the actual issue is already half of the solution. We explored the everyday life and challenges of young people like us in order to be able to consider the available possibilities for change.

We used Maslow’s pyramid to determine the needs of young people then we considered the possible actions of different age groups. We built a collage to visualize the properties of the typical irresponsible citizen and after that thought about the possible actions driven by these.

Using all this information we proposed several ways of improving upon the bad needs of society.

The picture below symbolizes how youngsters are being blinded by each other.

Arrival Day

The first day of the Swiss Talent Forum 2015 «Smart Growth and Consumption» is almost over. Right now the participants and their group coaches are meeting for the first time in their groups and are getting to know each other better.

The day started with arrivals and registration and was followed by a greeting ceremony, during which Stefan Horisberger from Swiss Youth in Science welcomed the participants to Thun and our partners from Roche (Peggy Grüninger) and UBS (Christoph Niggli) addressed the participants.

Then, a short inspirational movie made especially for this event and showed exclusively there was presented to show participants in the vastness and depth of this year’s topic.

After dinner the participants had the chance to participate in a «World Café» session where they were able to discuss three subtopics in more detail.

We are all very much looking forward to tomorrow’s events.
